I brought my skshome from the store today and noticed a small hole through the gas tube does anyone know why that might be there
Its to vent off the gas, do not lube the piston and the gas tube except for long term storageI just got my SKS today also, i noticed the hole and i am assuming that it be used as an oiling hole to lubricate the piston, or it is simply an air release hole to let out some of the build up when the piston moves rearward.

I flush mine with boiling water and wipe it dry, never had rust yet.Thats the first thing to rust up on an SKS, I take mine apart clean it and lube it after every use.
