Hopefully mods are ok with this as the Optics forum is a pretty large genre.

I'm not a red dot guru but figured if anyone was in the market, to start looking at the Holosun 507C with the Primary Arms ACSS Vulcan reticle. Pretty awesome reviews out there for it, and some of them really capture what it's about. Nice 2 MOA chevron 'dot' with a great big circle that guides your eye to center. 50k hour battery life, shake-awake setting, and freakin' solar panels attached to it's head for when the battery dies. Gimmick? probably. If it works though, nice feature. Not as tacticool as trijicon's tritium RMR... but also not $8-900.

Anyways, my local gun shop carries Holosun, in fact the exact same model with a different reticle, so I asked about this one, as they have other models available for purchase but not this particular one - and the reply was essentially this "We have no ETA for this model. If you can find one in stock, buy it. Every time they come in, the price goes up."

So if this local retailer is telling me not to even bother placing a back order with them to support a local business, because the next ones coming are going to be a significant difference in price, that right there means it's a good product worth grabbing.

So for all the guys that just bought the couple hundred Walther PDPs that made it in - check out Tenda for the ACSS Vulcan until they sell out!!

Happy Friday ya filthy animals!

I have 2 of the 507c ACSS units and they are friggin amazing. Last December they were priced at 399.99 now they are at 459.99 at some of our site sponsors. I agree with you grab them while you can.

I've had one myself for the last year or so, and I love it, but it has a couple quirks- seems the buttons get finicky when the battery is low, and unless you leave it in direct bright sunlight for extended time periods, the solar panel doesn't recharge much. If you were to holster your gun and go on long sunny hikes, it'd be excellent, but few folks in Canada get to do that lol.

The reticle is AMAZING and wildly fast on target, zero complaints.

My only other complaints are the usual "yuck_China_barf", and the general issues with the design of exposed emitter red dots. If I had the money I'd still get an RMR, but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the 507C.

Now if Trijicon ever came out with an enclosed-emitter RMR... I guess I'd have to sell a kidney or something and grab one.

Looks like it's all sold out now. I'm excited for it as my original plan was to get the Vortex Venom, but I think this is far better for the price I'm paying

I have the 507C with the circle/dot reticle on two of my handguns and haven’t had any issues. Not sure what use the ACSS reticle would be on a pistol that isn’t going to be shot past 50m tops. I have a HS 503G w/ACSS on an FX9 which makes more sense to me, since I could definitely see engaging targets past 100m especially in 2- or 3-gun matches.

So their reported 50,000 battery life is BS?

I wouldn't say it's complete "BS", but I think it's just based on the assumption of a large volume of solar charging being available. I'm on my second battery right now, however I am unsure of the amount of charge the first battery I installed had in it. Time will tell yet, but I do think 50k hours is optimistic.

From what I have read, they get away with that claim by saying its 50k hour runtime for just the dot reticle on auto brightness (usually too dim)

As soon as you switch to manual brightness to go brighter and circle/dot reticle, that lifetime drops significantly.

Fantastic price. I bought this one from them last Black Friday at this price. Had to order one. Thanks for sharing.

Update: Bought one this morning. Its already picked up by UPS and it scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
