Holosun HS403G Red Dot.

So this is my mini review.
I decided to pick this model up from canadaammo since I was unable to find a single negative review about it. Lifetime warranty through them gives me a bit of piece of mind. And their free shipping sweetened the deal.

Out of the box looked good, even tho the seal was broken. Guess I can't be too picky. No fingerprints.
Took about 1 minute to install. Seems well made and has a nice matte finish on it.
Functions of + - brightness all worked. Nice little optic covers came with it.
Even tho it has the auto on feature you can hit both +- buttons to turn it off.
Then to the range....
Worked great on the Ruger 10-22.
Zeroed at 20 yards... Shoots high at 10... Normal for .22 I guess.
Otherwise you can easily put 10 rounds in the bullseye off hand.
Amazingly fast target acquisition. Easy to use with both eyes open and no glare.
I'm very happy with it. I'd recommend it.

They have some great features for the price. The lifetime warranty only covers the aluminum body, the electronics is 2 or 3 years.

I got the solar one and loved it, unfortunately sold the gun it was on for some needed money but will be buying another one right when I get a chance. It was every bit as good as my Aimpoint H1 from what I could tell.

Is the main difference between the G model and the A model only the battery location ?
The 403A model ($185) comes with the low and AR mount and the 403G doesn't it only comes with the low mount so that is an extra $25 + $219 = $245
The battery is supposed to last 50,000 hrs so for $60 cheaper the A model looks like a better deal to me .
And its a whopping 20 grams lighter than the G model as well ..lol
I like the auto on feature just by moving the red dot and the auto off .
How do they compare to a Bushnell TRS as I have a couple of them and like them ? TRS has a 3 MOA dot and 25mm glass and the weight is about the same as the A model .

IIRC The A model does not use aimpoint mounts. It uses a proprietary mount.

^^The 403G in fact only comes with the low mount.
In comparison to the bushnell I think it's the better product.
The A model is the old model, the new G model fixes the battery access issue. Otherwise identical I believe.

anyone tried one of these on anything in .308 or 7.62x39?
I'm thinkin of putting one of these on a ruger scout .308 and maybe a shorty .303, for hunting.

My thought is that the battery lasts 50,000 hours so I cant see me changing it often enough to be a problem because its being located under the base .
Because the high mount is included with the A model after taxes will be at least $80 cheaper to get the A model if a person wants the higher mount .
