I'm looking to mount a compact red dot on my AR, and from the torture tests on youtube it seems like these holosun scopes are extremely tough.

Has anyone any first hand experience with them, I'm undecided between the HS403G & HS403A

I know that there is a new solar powered one but its not really a function I need and usually the less there is, the less there is to go wrong.

I have the 503 solar version which I prefer over the 403 series, personally I like always on features like aimpoint, I don't like auto on or auto off.
secondly the auto brightness feature, again just a personal preference, but the biggest selling point for me, is the eotech style reticle.
of course you can't go wrong with the 403 series either, my only criticism of holosun is their mount is not the best and the bolt is very soft, mine snapped at 20in pound.
for the money they are awesome.
i have wrote a review if anyone care to read it.

I'm looking at these optics too, price considered they look really good. I had some hands on at a local dealer and they look well made, dot is clear and bright. I don't mind an auto off when it's programmable and the model that as auto on with motion sensor is a good feature. I did add myself to a preorder on the new 515, and I'm looking at the new HUD. I contacted Holosun and was added to a contact list for a HUD, but they were unable to give a release date other than sometime this year.

The A model is the original which has the battery under the sight and you cannot get to it unless you remove the sight from the mount which will cause you to re-zero everytime you do a battery change. The G model has a battery tray and does not have this problem.

I just ordered the 503C. I'm impressed by their product line.

Yes, these are great. I got one on my Tavor and i love it. Waiting for the solar panel model to hit the shelves and I'll grab few more.
In my opinion no other mini red dot in that price range comes even close.

I think they did themselves a disservice by copying the Aimpoint Micro's design so closely. I know I had written them off (wrongly, as it turned out) as a cheap, cheesy clone that would break in 50 rounds. I think if they'd have used their own unique look I'd have taken them more seriously.

403g with 1/3 coriser Great red dot on an ar.
For the money i cant think of an option that works better. Battery lasts forever, motion turns it on.... I thought about the solar, but seemed like another failure point...really isnt 50K hours enough and just seemed kind of clown shoes to me.

Love the holosun. I did have a dumb question and holosun canada guy emailed me back on a sunday night in minutes. Funny and polite, and very quick. Cant beat that

Have one mounted on my m14. Works great so far. Only complaint is it is not as bright as my 2moa micro.

The G model I like best for a few reasons:
The housing is the same as an aimpoint so I can use the tango down aimpoint cover/ lens protector housing, great looking product,
And 2 if the batt ever needs changing the A model requires you to remove the sight ( big fail ) requiring a rezero.

G model is most like the real thing
The solar models are just gimmicky when the batt last 50 000 h wtf is solar for?
Throw a batt in your grip your good for life.
