Wanted to buy a holster for IPSC & was wondering what you guys use. Are there any features I should be looking for? Does a certain holster(Leather/Synthetic) protect the gun from wear/scratches than another??

Any help would be appreciated

If you're going to use the holster/gun for IPSC, then get used to wear and scratches. You're going to be using the gun alot, doing lots of draws. Wear and scratches are going to be a fact of life.

I really believe that it doesn't matter what holster you get; as you practice with it, you'll become accustomed to it. All modern race holsters (with the exception of Safariland) have some kind of retention system. They're all adjustable for a whole range of different movements.

If you're going for one of the non-race holsters, I'd pick one that has tension adjustments and can be adjusted for angle.

Such as the Blade-tech Dropped and Offset holster. My personal fav among the "non-speed" holsters although this DOH is mighty fast in its own right.

I forgot to add my preference...

As far as non-race holsters, I use the Sidearmor holster for my G22. I don't like the Fobus (too tight, no adjustments and it wears the finish...)

yeah, the Fobus does wear the finish on the slide. The Bladetech is step up, and is of better quality.

the CR rigs are great, but costly, if not a factor get one of this

if cost is a factor just to get started, the above kydex holsters work great & the their mag pouches are good as well, also cheap
i use one for my Glock 19. not as fast of a draw, but pretty good & only $25 - $35

Other than "the IPSC store" is there anyone local (Ontario) who sells CR Speed rigs? I think Wolf Hoffman may, but I don't see any mention of it on his web page? I've only seen prices quoted in us dollars. I'd like a WSM holster, 6 Versa pouches and the Hi Torque belt for a $384.60 USD +tax  . What are they selling for here in Canada?

Seems like a lot of $$$, but I guess if you want to play, you gotta pay .

Buy the best holster you can afford to get I personally use a CR speed and the better half uses a safariland for her race gun....just remember that for IPSC use it MUST cover the trigger gaurd and not allow the grip of the gun to drop below the belt..as far as a belt goes it must be stiff ( a standard belt for your jeans will not cut it) CR speed is good so is tje ones from Shooters Gear (they are made in Barrie by Ken Donavan)

FWIW

I asked Ken about his belts vs CR belts and was told that the CR's are better than his (which are very good) in that his are not as STIFF as the CR's.

The quality of Ken's is superb.

RePete.
