i was looking for a range holster for my new revolver J frame 2" snubby.

Any suggestions for a good strong side leather holster model? Its for the range so real need for safety.

I prefer Safariland and galco. Anyone have preferences? Im not a FOBUS fan but they have something decent:

Im thinking that BlackHawk has a new Serpa retention holster, but not sure why I would need level 2 retention at the range...

pretty modern looking with the laser grips.

Any reason why you dont like the Fobus line of holsters? I was looking at one like you pictured for a Walter PPK/S.(Roto system)

For leather, horsehide or cowhide,

And for Kydex,

These all cost more than the brands mentioned. You get what you pay for.

These are Hard Shell Talons by Lou Alessi and they are excellent holsters that do not cost an arm and a leg. Regards, Richard:D

Richard,
Do those Alessi holsters collapse when the pistol is drawn?

I have several holsters for my J-Frames. I have the Fobus paddle, the Blackhawk Serpa, the Uncle Mikes, a Tac-Pro, a Galco and an Alessi.

Stevo, the Alessi does not collapse, it is molded very well.

Out of the listed above, the Fobus was the cheapest with the Uncle Mieks no more then a few dollors more.

Both are very good holsters and avaialble a a bunch of guns shops.

My personal favorite is the Blackhawk, I am a big fan of the Serpa system, I have one for all my guns.

If you want to spnd the money, nothing beats the look and feel of a good leather holster and Alessi is second to none.

These are all great holster, doe Safariland make a decent JFrame holster in their Safarilaminate?

"Safariland's synthetic holsters to a large extent look like leather, but wear like iron. I have experience with two of their inside-the-pants type holsters that I can recommend highly, the J Hook (catalog No. 027) and the Inside The Belt ll (catalog No. 21)."

Me, I have no idea.
