What kind if holsters are allowed for IPSC? Are cross draws allowed? I’m guessing not, but that sucks :?

what about these?

Yes. Not recommended.
Yes. That'll do fine.
Yes. I'd take a knife and cut off the retaining strap.

Under IPSC rules, if there is a retention strap/button/whatever on a holster, it MUST be in use.

Also, if shooting production, the holster must be worn behind the hipbone (I think it is) - might make a difference in your selection ?

Also, I second the Bladetech DOH - great selection if you don't want an outright "speed" holster....

if you are only shooting in Canada buy a CR holster. otherwise i use a sidearmour holster for my glock and i quite like it. it's rigid and durable and runs about $115.00

you can't use a CR race holster for Production in the US.

Bah. Before you shell out some $100+ on a holster, buy that cheapie $20 fabric one in the bottom picture and decide whether you like playing IPSC.

And cut off that retention strap.

yeah and then if you do decide you like IPSC don't buy a CR buy a Ghost or a Guga Ribas, much nicer holsters than CR ;)

I bought a $20 phobus and it lasted one season before the rivets came apart. Whats $100 you only have to buy it once. If you were going to buy skiis would you cheap out on the boots?

Buy the best equipment you can afford.

What do you mean sell out... what am i selling out too?

The blade-tech looks good.

I prefer a more rigid holster. The sidearmour (and probably the blade-tech) has a retention adjustment as well.

My Bladetech DOH does have a retention adjustment screw

Take this with a grain of salt. Until you've played the game for a while, you won't know what's good and what isn't. Get a cheapo you don't hate to start with (I third the motion for a Blade tech DOH), and once you figure out what you do and don't like about various rigs, buy one of those.

Oh, Slavex is right. Don't bother with the CR holster. Overpriced and underfeatured. By all means get the CR Speed belt, though.

I use a Guga Ribas holster for my Glock.

I'm using a Blackhawk Carbon holster for my 1911 and I find it great. More like a concealment rigid holster, but I absolutely like the automatic active locking feature, which holds the gun pretty well, even with almost no passive retaining tension applied. And it does look like a holster, not like a plastic piece on which your gun rests and might fall from if you move a bit too much.

My only rant is, beign a 'concealment' holster, it is high, very high on the belt, good thing it can be tilted forward or backward.

I have a regular Bladetech belt holster that I used before I got a Speedsec race holster. If I used a Bladetech again, it would be the DOH.
The Speedsec holster is very easy to use, but also easy to forget to lock. It has to be locked when you are not actually at the firing line. I had forgot to lock it when at the range practicing, and it fell out when I bent over to pick up my mag. That being said it is adjustable for cant, and height. The draw is almost too easy. It only may save a 10th or 20th off your draw time.
