Holsters for M&Ps

Raven Concealment Solutions...

If you have a MP - its needs a light and the Crimson Trace Laser grip backstrap.

I'm stuck in the 30 day backlog for Raven, can't wait for mine to get here. Surefire or Streamlight Kevin? - Just checked, I'm 15 days into the 30 day backlog, time flies when your politicians are *ssholes.

Well, seeing how no dept issues the M&P yet and if they did they would issue a holster, I'm going to say he qualifies as a "mere citizen" and doesn't require a level 2 or greater holster as he most likely does not carry for a living. Either way I was just curious why the great migration to the serpa series holsters. The Safariland above is a far superior holster and is reasonably priced.

Actually I am a mere citizen now, but did carry an C8, MP5 and other primary weapons in my last career. I carried a Sig p226 as my secondary. I never specified type or level, I was just wondering what people thought. I have enough training and tactical expertise to make my own decisions and enough wisdom to consult others.

I've been looking at the Blackhawk Level II Duty holster to set up a duty rig I can approach the big hats in the training department at work to approve. Sad thing is, the BH duty holster is only available for the M&P 45. We're going to the .40s.

Do your reseach before making statements like that... There are a few services in Canada already issuing the M&P and some of them are already issuing Black Hawk holsters, and I know of others that are looking at them.

Gould and Goodrich make a nice light Level 2 duty holster that doesn't require approval from the Vatican to get the gun clear on. Thumb break and an inward twist on the draw and the gun clears. It's quite cheap, and easy to maintain, works very nicely.

Oh yeah, and anyone who works with the Iraqi police will be getting familiar with the M&P pretty soon, they just bought 7500 of them.

they make a level 2 belt holster for the 9/40. I don't think it'll fit on your leathers though.

That's the kicker. Mind you, if it'll run on a nylon belt (we have a few guys who had their personal belts approved, mostly the Uncle Mike's 2" nylon) I can probably get a green light.

Crimson Trace grips suck, why????? Cause they don't accommodate left handed people, my hand placement of thumb on top of thumb blocks the laser path. Great for righties though.

I bought the Uni-Max system by Lasermax, it's thin and attaches the the dust cover rail on my handgun. Works great, just not during the day when at the range.

It's more for night-time home defense, which of course you cannot do if a crook breaks in, I could just imagine what the prosecution would say, " so you installed a laser on your gun to make killing easier?", know imagine if you happen to have hollow points in the gun along with a laser? The anti's would have a field day with your "handheld death machine".

Seriously?? Lasers on handguns are useless, your comment regarding the legal "nightmare" are fantasy. Regardless whether your pistol/rifle/shotgun was equipped with a laser/light/bayonet the fact remains that you killed someone. Providing evidence that said death was a righteous one in the name of self defense is the only concern. What was or was not used is irrelevant. Your statement that a laser installed would make "killing easier" could also be construed as being a "sound choice in preventing stray rounds from leaving your home." Which would show that you are a responsible citizen who is concerned with the welfare of the public.

 On the deathray ideology

Second - you give up the use of a handgun mounted light for a laser?
Many PD's in the US have the MP backstrap - I have seen several lefties use them - so I am thinking you simply suffer a training issue...

I have a Blade-Tech Dropped & Offset Holster for my M&P9. I use it for general purpose stuff at the range. Has adjustability for retention and is good quality molded Kydex. You can adjust the cant (3 positions), and remove the drop and offset piece if you want to wear it higher and tighter to the body. I guess you would call it level 1 retention.

I have a Blade-Tech SRB for my M&P. When I was looking for a holster a guy I shoot with had a Blackhawk and a Blade-Tech so I got to see them side by side. The plastic felt a bit flimsier on the Blackhawk so I went with the Blade-Tech. No regrets. I just got one for my Shadow too.
