Home defense/ Bean bag ammo

We are allowed to use as much force as needed to protect yourself. Its not the lethality of a round, its using a FIREARM for self defense is the problem. In all cases i've ever heard of, the gun owner gets charged with "illegal discharge or storage" and not bodily harm cused to the thug. Otherwise wed be able to use a .22 as long as we'd aim for the a$$

While it has happened, it does not happen much

Firearms are used everyday all across Canada in self defense and there is still only 5 or so cases of this happening and they span decades. There are just as many cases if not more where the shooter was acquitted, and there are even more cases where the shooter was not even charged. The most memorable one was the one in Calgary where it was investigated and deemed non culpable homicide and no charges were laid.

I agree. I just wanted to point out that the caliber or bullet type won't make a difference. If ur gonna get charged it will be for discharge or storage (as dumb as it sounds) and not how much damage you did.

Lead goes through walls, rubber slugs don't. For me this is would be the advantage. By all means if you live in the country alone you might not have to worry about others but for those with families in urban environments you better be real careful what you discharge and in what direction, because even if force is justified that does not give you the right to maim or kill a family member or neighbour. Frangible and other specialty ammo may reduce those risks but it is something to consider if you have any idea of using a firearm to defend yourself at home.

the only HD round ever used should be some 00 buck biggest thing is when ever people are charged here its always with something to do with the firearms act such as unsafe storage

so then you use smaller shot #4 buck or even some goose loads because charges would most likely be worse if the person is just injured

Lots of choices regarding ammo, based on where you live/occupants/layout. The important thing is to at least consider what round you would use based on your individual circumstances.

If such a situation ever arose where you felt sufficiently threatened that you needed to discharge a firearm in defence of life, you should only discharge it as a last option, and with the intent of stopping the threat in their tracks... Period.

I would consider it to be very unwise to carry or load any Less Lethal cartridges when the situation was serious enough to even think of using your firearm for self defence.

for me I could use just about anything. any over penetration go's through a wall a floor and into the basement. biggest thing is no matter what round you use in a shotgun it will act like a slug at close range and go through multiple walls with some force left over
