Was given this book a few years ago by a relative, gave it a quick glance but never read it in detail.

Glad to have it today as I mounted a scope on my Schultz & Larsen target .22LR, (thank you Tradex).

The receiver was so hard that my first attempt to drill it a hole ruined my drill bit. (Fortunately I did't begin with the only #31 Drill bit I had).

The rearmost screw hole was okay and it drilled out just fine but the others required some very delicate work with the smallest Dremel stone I had. Removed material exactly where the hole would be drilled until I could hardly see the center punch mark; then remark it a bit deeper and grind some more. Did this a few times then drilled the hole with a 3/32" high quality bit to the depth I wanted. Run a final pass with the #31 drill bit then tap it using Hoppes #9 as a cutting fluid.

Installed my Weaver #71A bases on it and mounted a Bausch & Lomb x36 target scope in Burris Zee rings and zeroed it just as the sun went down. Only fired 20 rounds of cheap ammo at 25-30 yards but its on target now and ready for a day of nice weather. I am looking forward to what this may be capable of.

Anyways was glad to have the book on hand, without it I would have given up early in the day.

I have that same book as well as Gunsmithing at Home by John Traister, both have helped me out numerous times over the years.
Its nice to be able to read up on how to disassemble a gun before you possibly risking damage to it by doing something wrong.
