home made bump fire/slide fire stock legality

I have done alot of research and find nothing as far as the laws for a home made slide fire stock.
I have a pistol grip folder I would like to convert but I also have zero interest in breaking any laws.
I read that they are illegal for IMPORT but does that mean we cannot make them?
