So after making my de-mooner the next project was to make holders for the loaded moon clips that would fit on my belt.

First prototype is done and the other 5 are in progress and already look better!.

-Cut 3" of flat steel bent at 1 1/4" to 90 deg. drill holes for belt backing and bar. Aluminum piece for behind belt.
-5/8 round steel cut to 2 3/4 drilled and tapped at one end for a 1/4" bolt. Ceramic magnet 3/4" attached with epoxy and ground down to match the bar.

The moonclip slips on the bar and is held on very well with the magnet. It does not fall of upside down or even shaken hard.

What about shortening the post about an inch? It seems way too long.

And like the other guy said; You need to test it with live rounds.
Holding empty cases doesn't mean very much.

Your overall concept looks pretty good though.

will try with full loads soon!
the length is fine for me at least, too short I find the belt gets in the way, taller post and there's better clearance.

I made up something similar once, but rather then a magnet i made a spring collet for the post. That and i used spring clips onto the belt. Worked well enoght but every now and then i'd pull them off my belt rather then off the collet :p I was going to make loops for them, never got around to it, as the shoot a moon holders i found online were easy to get. I really like your magnet idea, very slick. Are those rare earth magnets? If not, and the live rounds do fall off, the rare earth units will hold

ceramic magnets, thought Id try these first before the neos as they are more expensive

so just tried it with full loads, they stay on held upside down, and need a good shake to come off!
Im happy with them for now!
