Honest Question: Why the love for Tan/FDE?

I'm curious; I've seen more and more sand/tan/flat dark earth colors on the weapons people have been posting and I'm curious what draws people to those colors.

For those that have weapons with these colors and/or accessories; Given the option for a black or other colored weapon why did you choose the tan-ish colors? Does it relate to a connection to the warfighters on the ground or something else?

I don't entirely follow the draw to the alternate colors so I'm genuinely curious. Thanks.

They also easier to blend into the environment when hunting. A black rifle is easier to notice. FDE is harder to notice in all seasons wee have in Canada. The green sticks out like a black rifle in the winter.

I have tan, black, grey, green and pink guns. I actually like the grey ones the best for colour, they blend in well but don't show the grime like tan guns. I've got 3 M$ style AR15's with matching Magpul furniture in black, grey, tan. The tan one is the only one that always looks dirty. :)

Because tan is a great way to break up the outline of a black rifle? An all-black rifle sticks out like a sore thumb :

To borrow from the great Pat Rogers: "Brownish colors work almost everywhere. How many green animals have you seen?"

A black rifle is the first thing that sticks out if a camouflaged hunter is encountered in the woods at any distance. Something about a straight solid black line seems to stick out from a long ways out. It's the first thing the eye picks up as unnatural in a natural setting.

If you examine the picture above, it will be the black rifle (and the white hands) that will be picked up by enemy observation from a long way out. The soldier pictured is NOT properly camouflaged.

For hunting, I find a grey or light brown laminated rifle stock with a buff stainless barrel is the best for blending in with all kinds of terrain.

No reason other than now people have the choice, it is like asking why are people buying colour cars, since the original Ford model A and T's only came in black.
