Hey Folks

I'll be in HK for a weekend in March, and wanted to do some exploring(and maybe a little digging) Norm Christie style. Make th most out of my time there. I've not had a lot of luck with books or websites giving great location information. Any ideas? Good itineraries, locations of contacts would be appreciated! Maybe Luckyorwhat can put me in touch with his mates who explore there;) Y'know, maybe bring back a sample of the WW2 bullets of so much discussion:D

Try to find this book in HK bookstores: "Ruins of War: A Guide to Hong Kong's Battlefields and Wartime Sites (1996) Ko Tim Keung and Jason Wordie. "

It is step by step guide on how to get to these places. Also goto the Coastal Defense Museum. The old Tsimshashui railway station clock tower also has some battle scars (bullet holes)
Basically look for old buildings. The general rule is if it's more than 2 stories tall it's most likely post war.

Oh and buy an Octopus transit card/Cash card... really useful plus you can use it as a cash card at 7/11 and vending machines.

And if you would like to see lots of replica firearms (airsoft) Kwongwa Street (Hospital) is a good place to go.

I heard there is a WW2 Canadian War Vet cemetery somewhere. Or perhaps a visit to the former Brit Colonial Governor Residence on HK Island is of some interest to you.
 
Hey Ollie,

Go on ebay or something and Buy Norm Christie's series on WW2. Watch it for 5 days straight and you won't need a map.

Have fun and if you bring back some cool stuff I have a few WW1 trades for you.
