In my area, we finally got a good layer of snow. The weather has been so mild that the snow is like walking through wet cement. If we all of a sudden get a cold snap and this stuff freezes solid, my fear is that it would be very harmful to the deer population again. I hope that I am wrong about this but I have seen this happen before. Any other areas looking the same?

Was just thinking the same thing. Poor buggers finally had a good year last year the last thing they need is to get hit hard again. On the bright side they've had it pretty good so far.

From what I have seen so far, the snow is easy to scrape through. The only time crust comes into play is when the snow is deep and the deer break through, that makes it hard on the deer to move and escape coyotes.
