I was just at the chilliwack gun show and picked up a Hopkins and Allen single shot take down rifle in 44 40.
The only markings I see besides H&A are patent 1886 and merwin hulbert& co.I can't find anything on the
Google about this gun in 44.lots in 22 and32 rf. does anyone have one of these or know anything about them?value? Manufacture dates? Thanks in advance

Try Googling the H&A Medium size action. They made falling block actions ( and I'll assume that is what you have) in 3 sizes, according to caliber.

These just sold and you can click on the price.

I have one in 38 (short Colt) which cost about $600 USD. Great fun to shoot. Value of course varies on condition, when, where, and how much money one has in hand..

Good reference: Falling Blocks and Other Single Shots from Hopkins and Allen, by Charles E. Carder.

If you get tired of your 44, get in touch.
