So Today I decided to try and test my accuracy.

Savage Axis in .223
Vortex 4x12x44 Crossfire II Scope
using Hornday Superperformance Varmint .223 REM 53Gr. V-Max

The first 3 shot were perfect 1/2" group @ 50 yards
the next 3 were light strikes

I'm not happy at $30+ per box of 20

There is nothing wrong with my rifle

PPU 55gr is my normal range round without problems.

Has anyone else had an issue with Hornaday and warranty ?

Hi there, I’ve shot this ammo out of a factory Savage 11 in 223, 1:9.25 twist and it did sub MOA at 100 yards, close to 3/4” 5 shot groups. I tried it in my custom 223 with a 1:12 shilen- it grouped around 1” at 100, I’m guessing the 12 twist is a bit slow for the 53 vmax as it is a fairly long bullet for its weight.

This was one of the most accurate factory loads i found for my Tavor. Consistently 1.5 moa and absolutely devastating on varmints and predators.

Clean the bolt thoroughly and de-grease. If that doesn't solve it, i would contact Hornady, they will make it right.
