Hornady 165gr Interlock performance

I never understand when the cost of the bullet is so miniscule next to the gas guns and gear not to mention the time and blood that people get anything less than a premium bonded bullet. Why take a chance and underplay it? Interbonds shoot very well for me in my m305 and same poi as sst as Mr Hoytcannon pointed out long ago.

However i think you helped prove shot placement trumps all. Some Deer though just wont cooperate at getting cleanly shot.

Congrats on your kill.

Those split lines in the jacket of the interlock are there for faster expansion. Its astonishing the number of ppl who buy soft rapid expanding bullets go out flatten a deer then complain the bullet came apart. It did exactly what it was designed to do
As for lead particles in meat im not concerned. No medical journal can give a cut off number for what is and what isnt a dangerous level.
If some wish to switch to non lead alternatives thats great but dont push it on the rest or all shooting will be like migratory birds. Copperiedus is a metal poisoning from copper.
Anyway slower speeds or a heavier interlock may get you a prettier bullet in the end if it stays in the animal. You may or may not have to track it however. But if the shank of your 165 passed thru never to be found would you have questioned its performance or praised its performance?

They sometimes do when fired into a sand backstop but in water jugs they make picture perfect expansion

Yeah ive seen them open up right down to the base but still the lead it attached to the jacket in most cases- sure alot of the main weight has gone somewhere but that is typically into fairly hard dirt/earth.

into anything else its fairly proven performer and into the animals most often the bullet stays on the far side of hide, an devestates the path it got there.

we're pullin 338 RCM out every deer- 225gr models an thats a power house but shows how elastic the hide must be an also how much velocity the projectile sheds inside the animal as it expands 2x its size haha

cheers mate

Id like a source for 458 woodliegh in the 400gr weight. Tradeex had been sold out for some time. A round nose 400gr showing lots of lead would be nice to
