I was wondering if anyone has tried either of these (.224) and what the results were. Very impressive BC on the Hornady.

I am shooting the 68 gr Hornady BTHP in my Tikka .223. Have a couple of loads worked up: 25.9 gr Varget or 25.0 gr W748. The latter is the best.

I have a box of each on the way and am eagerly awaiting the opportunity to try them out.

Also give the 69 grain SMKs a try. I use the 68 grain Hornadys and they shoot excellent in my rifle. The accuracy between the Hornady 68 and the 69 SMK is the same in my rifle, but the Hornadys have a better BC. I use 25 grains of Varget. Rifle is an AR with a 1:9 twist.

I have both and really like both. If I am not mistaken, the Hornady 68 is actually longer than most 69 grainers. This will affect some rifles ability to stabilize them. I had a 1 in 10" twist gun that would shoot any 69 grain bullet without a problem, but key-holed the Hornady 68's.

I have 1 box of the SMKs here also. It will be an interesting test.

If you don't mind the added cost the Berger 70 grain VLD is also something to consider. I don't hear of too many people using them though. Perhaps because they are 10 cents more a bullet.
