As i was pressed for time and taking too long in the gun shop, I grabbed a set of Hornady dies for 7.62 Russian. Further reading describes it as .308 diameter. Are they .311 or .308? I haven't opened the package yet? Does any one use this die set for 7.62x54 R ?

I don't have the Hornady ones, but its the same deal with the Lee set. All I had to do was switch out the decapper/button rod with the one from my .303 Brit set. I was firing factory 762Russian rounds that were .311 dia, and they shot well. So sticking with it.
You might have to order the extra part from Hornady. Shouldn't be too expensive though.

I beleive you will find that it i s for the 7.62X54Rmm round. Almost all of the reloading dies come with both expanders for the x39, or did when I bought mine, and both the Hornady and the Lee only came with the .308 when I got my X54mm dies.
