Hornady Ammo Question

I have tested a few different types of ammo and so far I have had good success with the accuracy of Hornady ammo...most notably their Interbond bullet. The most accurate is the 150 grain Interbond with the 165 Interbond not far off.

I don't know a lot about tipped bullets so my question is about bullet weight and performance. I am going to be shooting a 30-06 so I'm wondering if the 150 grain will be too light and "explosive" or should I go up to the heavier 165 grain? I have read a lot of horror stories about tipped bullets "exploding" or "failing" but with the accuracy I'm getting I'd really like to try them out. I have also read that the Interbond is a pretty tough bullet so should I even worry about using a 150 grain or just let'em fly because they are the most accurate I've shot?

Any opinions??? I should also mention I'll be hunting whitetail and mulies.

interbond don't blow up. there bonded. in a 30 06 i would use the 165, big enough for moose and will open up on deer. my buddy uses 165ib in his abolt for every thing. never a problem. i use acubond, scirrocs and interbonds in a varity of calibres. bonded are my favorite bullets, soft enough for long range and tough enough up close.

Ok I guess blowing up might be a bit of a strong term. I have read where they opened way too quick and fragmented as it passed through. I'd really like to use the 150 due to its accuracy out of my gun so I just want to hear if it's stout enough.

The 150 gr Interbond will be more than adequate for Whitetails and Mulies.

If that's the bullet you like the best AND your rifle likes the best too - that's the bullet to use. It will also give you more confidence to make your shot knowing you have the most accurate loads.

Good luck - and - Happy Hunting!!!
