Hornady Auto Charge Powder Dispenser 169.99$USD

I have one. Hard pass buddy. Spend more on the chargemaster. I am on number 3 due to warranty issues. $35 bucks a pop to reship to hornady

What are the issues you are having with them? A friend has had one for about a year and has had no issues with it. It gets used several times a week and checks it against his 1010 and so far all is good. I have been looking at one as well as the LNL bench scale I have has matched up with my 1010 as well. The RCBS seems to be the front runner though.

I got a lemon one too. In 200 powder dispenses maybe 5 have been the entered amount. The other 195 were over, then you have to reset and try again. I didn't use it till the return period was over. Buy an extended warranty if you can!! Oh and shipping back to the US for repairs. Ouch.

My first autocharge started to shut itself off mid session. It also started to act as if it was binding on extruded stick powder. At the time I was loading for a 7mm so the charges were up in the 60+ grain range. I sent it away and received no explanation from hornady but did receive a new unit. I have maybe run 2-300 charges through the new one and once I started loading 7mm again it gave me the exact same problem. Just stopped throwing completely. First time was with imr7828 and the second time was with reloader 22. I found it pretty funny that both times it started acting up was throwing larger weights of extruded powder. Other than 7mm, I loaded countless 223 and 308 loads. When I hopefully receive a new one back from hornady, I will be listing it for sale and going a different route, whether its a chargemaster or a gempro 250. Honestly, I liked the price when I got it, but now coming up on my 3rd one in 18 months, its just not worth my trouble. Especially since shipping is up to me everytime. Add it all up and I could have had a chargemaster.

I'll have to ask him what different powder he uses. I tried the Hornady LNL beam scale and went through several as they were not very good. Hornady sent me a electronic bench scale instead and it has been good. Was thinking of getting an auto charge but not sure anymore if I even want or need one.
I will say that so far the best electronic scale I have is the first GS 1500 scale from Hornady that was $40.00. Seems like with Hornady and others it is a hit and miss on whether you get a good unit or not.

Hornady has treated me very good as I have not had to pay for anything for any parts that I have needed for my LNL press or anything else. I always ask for a guy named Seth and he has treated me right.
