Hy ! I'm a newbie in reloading . My rifle is a remington 700 xcr 7 mm rem. mag.
whit a twist of 1-9''1/4 , but i have hornady A-MAX 162 gr. bullets whit a twist rate of 1-8'' should i use them or not ? thanks

I have an Older Ruger M77 in 7mmRM, it has a 1:9.25 or 1:9.5 twist ratio, and I've used and still use the 1-8 twist rated 162g A-max with excellent results.

I drive them out of the 24" barrel at around 3000fps

I've used these bullets on Deer, Sheep, Black Bear, Grouse, with great success.
These bullets tend to fragment on impact about 50% of time, and still make one shot kills, sometimes the fragmenting of the bullet in the vitals area takes out all organs at once, turns the inners of the chest cavity into soup.

I shot a Stone Sheep at just over 400 yards at about 45 degrees down hill, one shot at the base of the throat into the chest cavity and it was all over before the ram even heard the shot.

An old friend of mine used my rifle to take a big blackie, one shot to the neck and it fell to the ground and never moved again.

Some folks don't care for a bullet that fall apart 50% of time, doesn't retain it's weight that way, but if you know the performance of the bullet, then you just need to know where to put the bullet.
I've never had to chase, follow, search for any game that I shot with one of these bullets.

and that's my experience with these bullets.
