Call to Hornady:
Me: Umm, my rebate form was sent back because Bass Pro's receipt isn't proper, but its all they can give me. I contacted bass Pro after receiving the item because it didn't have a receipt in with the shipping documents.
Hornady: It doesn't have their name on the receipt, so it doesn't qualify for the rebate.
Me: It has their name of the customer service person from Bass Pro in the signature....this is the only receipt they can provide me.
Hornady: Well, it doesn't qualify for our program, they need to provide something else.
Me: Let me call them again.
Call with Bass Pro:
Me: Ummm. you guys provided me with a receipt that doesn't work for the Hornady Stay Loaded rebate.
Bass Pro: Sorry sir, this is the only way we can bring up online web based order receipts in our system, we really can't provide anything else.
Me: How I am supposed to get this rebate based on your receipts then?
Bass Pro: Well, we could mail you a letter on our letter, with our name indicating the particulars of your order.
Me: Ok
Call back to Hornday: (worried that letter won't cut it either)
Me: Yeah, I just called about a returned rebate form. The bass pro receipt I submitted is all they can give me....they cannot produce any other receipts.
Hornday: Well, I'm sorry then, you rebate doesn't qualify.
Me: Can I speak to your supervisor?
Transferred:
Me: You guys aren't going to accept my receipt for this item? I mean really? I bought this item online, it was shipped, I like it, I paid for it, Hornady is a reputable company and you aren't going to accept this receipt?
Hornady: We have no proof you bought it from Bass Pro.
Me: Really, I kind of think the documents I provided are substantial enough to show it was bought from bass pro.
Hornady: Without their name in the receipt, we can't verify that it was in fact bought from them.
Me: Well, I don't know what to do then. I am just the consumer here. I don't know why Hornady would license Bass Pro to retail their products if their receipting processes aren't adequate. To me, it seems pretty unfair to make the consumer responsible for something they have no control over. Presumably Bass Pro has a dealer arrangement of some kind with Hornady....you guys should be able to straighten this out. I thought Hornady and Bass Pro were better companies than that.
Hornady: Can you hold while I talk to my manager?
*wait*
Hornday: Ok sir, we can accept this rebate this one time only. Any future rebates from Hornady will not be honoured unless you provide a real receipt for the goods received.
Me: Fair enough, I don't buy presses that often, so this may not be an issue anyways. (it may also not be an issue because I will have to reconsider buying from them again)
