I am looking for a good round for my .270 to hunt moose with and I came across the Hornady GMX in 140 grain and they are available at my local CT. Most reviews are good and it says they are designed to work on moose and elk but I keep seeing the odd review that says the bullet disintegrated instead of mushrooming so my question is can anyone give me their opinion on this round?

I would agree....monometals are designed to retain close to 100%, because they do they perform as good as a larger projectile that would loose weight. These are all about speed, they will not open great at impact speeds less than 2000 ft/sec. In a full power 270 load i would think that to be 4-500 yards....but dont have a balistic calculator ....so thats a guess.

Hornady superformance SST...with a similar BC is still doing 2187 @ 500. Would think 500 to be the ballpark.

used the 139gmx in 7 mag. at 25 feet it blew threw a black bear so I assume it stayed together. dead bear and no bullet to recover.
