Anyone use this bullet on game? Picked up a box of 165 gn in 30 cal today and the guy that sold em did not know game results.
Any info would be great.
Thanks
Colin

I handload 174 gr for my 303. Very accurate. But I haven't tried it on any game yet. However I've only heard good things about this bullet from people who have used this bullet on big games.

I've taken two critters with those pills. Loaded over 57grn of IMR 4350 in my .06
My deer was a 200 yard shot into the brisket, dropped like a rock. Bullet was inside the spine above the rump.

My bear was at 15 yds, it managed to climb a tree, just didn't know it was dead. Heart and lungs were soup.

I've found no reason to change, nice and accurate to boot.

those are Interlocks, not Interbonds.

5 yrs ago I loaded 165 Interbonds in 30-06 for hunting but never did pull the trigger one any game. I'd think they'd do a good job. I usually go with Accubonds these days though

My bad! Yes mine are interlocks, but they're very accurate out of my 303.

Haven't tried the 30 cal but the 154gr Interbond in 7mm is great!
I am getting very good groups, and two kills so far. One wolf at 80 yds dropped like a sack and a whitetail at 250yds, did the typical 40 yard sprint and then realized it was dead. He was quartering towards me, bullet went just inside the front should and penetrated all the way to the pelvis without coming apart much at all. 81% retention 125gr after:

They also make the SST version. Nugget shot a deer with his 270 using them and they did big damage. Seems the Interbond is a bit heavier jacket.

The 154gr also shot very well in the Father in law's 7mag.
I plan on using this load for quite some time!

When they first came out I found some 165Grain 30 cals with loose tips in a 2 different boxes of bullets.

I have never shot any game with them but did test quite a few. If you want deep penetration at high velocity this is not the bullet for you. Because they are bonded they hold a very large mushroom, at high velocity about 2900 or 3000fps and up, they peel almost all the way back.

Use them all the time 4 deer so far with them, one with my 270, and the others with a 308 and 30-06 and a 338 wm. The only down fall i have notices with the super shock tios! is velocity? may be it only me but as soon as i drive them over 3000-3100 fps the accuracy goes away big time. But have good luck with them at 308 -30-06 speeds.
The deer i shot with my 270 tore it up a bit but i hit big bone big exit hole??
I dont know if i would choose the interlocks for big game or not in a high velocity mag!
Great deer bullet thats all i can comment on.

I've only shot one deer with a 150 gr out of my '06, but it dropped the deer in it's tracks and exited on a broad side shot. I did some informal penetration tests on phone books and the Interbonds were giving similar performance to Nosler Partitions. The Interbonds weren't especially accurate out of my particular rifle so I went back to different bullets.

I found that anything below 150 grains has been inaccurate in most any of the .06 I've owned. Likely a load/speed thing but the 165 and 180 will print the same groups at almost the same POI

When I first started handloading I was using the 165 Interbond in the 06. It was accurate but I didn't like the performance on game. The bullets seemed to cause a lot a meat damage and there were "fragments" of the jacket and core a long may from the "entry" hole. I switched to the partitions and I like them a whole lot more.

Geez...you guys are scarring me a bit here. I just switched my .338 to 225gr Interbonds, I'm pretty happy with accuracy but I haven't any experience with them on game. Seems like "extensive meat damage" is the general experience with these bullets. I don't like to waste meat.

I pretty much stay away from Hornady anything when loading for my .300 RUM. It has been my experience that they do not hold together well at the highest velocities. I have taken mule deer with IBs in my .30-06, no problems, worked as expected, accuracy at the range and hunting was good.

Then don't shoot the meat, it's that easy. Unless you are shooting a somthing slower like a 45-70 or 30-30 you are going to get a fair bit of meat damage. Even then if you hit a bone you are still going to loose meat.

The only way around it is to stop shooting at the meat.

The biggest Interbonds like the .375, .416 and .458s replaced the Interlocks in those calibers. That didn't last long, when the high dollar replacement proved to be a failure against the big, bad and uglies. Now the "new" bullet is discontinued and the "Old " bullets are back. This applies to the Hornady factory ammo as well. If you like these bullets stock up now, because they're done. The "Old pattern solids" with real steel jackets are coming back as well.
For what it's worth I have had great luck with plain old Interlocks. I never got a Interbond shooting well enough that it ever got selected as a hunting load.

My brother in law took a 6 ' black bear last night with the 30/06 and 165 grain Interbonds. The shot was at 84 yards and it was tucked nicely behind the shoulder. It took out the vitals and excited the otherside not much in the way of meat damage just a little on the way out when it broke ribs. It worked pretty good on that bear it spun and dropped dead!

I took one Whitetail doe with a 30 cal 165gr Interbond out of a 308 win two years ago. The shot was only about 60 yards and through the neck, but it did a great job.

I recovered the bullet approx. 4-5 inches into an aspen tree on the off side. The bullet was still intact and in perfect mushroom form. Weight retention was 151 gr.

I found the interbonds easy to develop an accurate load for as well.

Overall, very happy with them!

I shot two deer with them last year. A mule at 260 yrds - punched right throught. Whitetail at 60yrds - punched through.

Not excessive meat damage and shot very well.

I will keep using them.
