Well I think it's time for a dispenser/scale..... I sat here the other day and weighed out 100 charges for 308, last time i'm doing that....

Anyone running one of these Hornady ones? I see they get some decent reviews but would like to hear the opinions on CGN.

What do ya think?

Thanks

Yea, I got one. It's ok.

This may sound like a stupid question, but why would anyone buy an electric powder dispenser vs. a quality powder measure?

Power measures are less expensive, faster, and very accurate.

I got one recently from Natchez on sale. The factory programming is a little frustrating. But there's a one page pdf you can download that shows you how to change all of the settings. Unfortunately it doesn't save the settings. It's also sensitive to inductive motors nearby. In my case, it doesn't work well when the furnace or freezer are on even though they're a fair distance away.

With that said, when it's set up and working well, it's faster than I am on the turret press. It works well on extruded powder that is otherwise hard to meter. I like the overcharge warning and that it automatically starts when the empty pan is put back on. I'm not sure if the RCBS unit does that.

I researched this one and the RCBS model. Hornady comes in at roughly half the price. There are quite a few guys that complained of their RCBS units just dying on them after a year or two and they effectively became boat anchors. I took a chance on the Hornady and now that I know it's limitations and how to work around them I'm happy.

Check out Midwayusa. Com and look at the reviews for the various units. There are hundreds of them.

I like to weigh every charge for some reason. I have a lee safety scale and perfect powder measure, always loading different charges gets to be a real pain in my ass with this setup.

I think it will be a big step up and don't want to spend 450 on a green one just because it is.... green.

Thanks for the tips on midway, I'll go read those reviews.

In my case it was because of "hard to meter" powders. If the powder is hard to meter then even the best volumetric type powder measures aren't going to be precise enough for me.

Think I'm going to give this one a go, reviews looks pretty good, a few unhappy people but that can also be said about the chargemaster.

I like the auto setting where I can put the tray down and it just hammers out another charge. Should cut my loading time down by about half i figure.
