Anyone tested this stuff out yet??? Know any Canadian place that stocks it?
Just looking at the design was wondering if those soft tips would freeze up in the cold weather!! Campbery
That's a really good question. Have you considered sending it right to Hornady for an answer?
It looks like they put a lot of effort into the development of this bullet. I would think they've got customers in Alaska and the northern states who would like to know too.
There was a thread on this topic a while ago when this ammunition first came out and one of the CGN'rs e-mailed Hornady and they said that they tested them in extreme cold and the tips do not freeze up. The way people always want to sue companies for negligence they have to cover all the bases before releasing a new product, especially one like this.
Thanks guys, just found a link for some testing done on the leverevolution,
-30F to 130F. Sounds impressive, can't buy the bullets yet but I'll have to try it out.
When I was at wholesale in Saskatoon a couple of weeks ago, the guy at the gun counter said "unfortunatly we won't see them here for at least a year" I sure hope not, I wanted to get some as soon as I heard of them, but Hornady does'nt ship to canada direct do they? if so, I'll have to go that route.
In the mean time I've been loading up some 170 gr pointed soft points and loading them one-by-one into my win.94......fun but slow shooting, they seem to be much more accurate. I used them to shoot a 1500 lb bull last week and dropped him with one shot.......6 feet from the muzzle, maybe the powder burnt his eyes too, LOL, but these new fangled LR from Hornady should be fun to shoot.
I sent an email to Epps the other day asking if they had any new 30-30 LEVERevolution ammunition in stock. I received an email the following day from Wes Winkel, says it is in stock @$24.99 per box..
