Hornady Load Data?

Hey there,

I just bought some 180gr Hornady .308 SSTs for my 300 Win Mag. I already have a bunch of H1000 powder and both magnum and LR primers. My problem is I can't find the proper charge data on the Hornady website. Does anyone know where I can find the charge amounts and primer type? My last bullets were Nosler and they had the data right on the site. Thanks for any help!
 
Have you looked at hodgdon's website for load data? They have an online list of loads, and you might find something there.....
I haven't looked for 300WM, but I have gotten load data for 308, 30-06, 223....

BTW, if you start with a starting load (why wouldn't you, anyway?) and work your way up, using different components usually won't cause problems.

Thanks, yeah, it looks like they have a lot of other calibers, but not 300 win mag. Unless I missed something, but I searched and searched. Problem is I'm not %100 sure what the starting load would be.
 
These are the 2 loads listed on the hodgdon site

180 GR. NOS E-TIP Hodgdon H1000 .308" 3.340" (col) 74.6gr(start) 2821(fps) 53,300 PSI 79.4C (max) 2984(fps) 62,400 PSI

180 GR. SPR MT-SP Hodgdon H1000 .308" 3.285"(col) 76.0gr (start) 2883 (fps) 46,800 CUP 81.0C (max) 3042(fps) 52,900 CUP
 
Thanks, but which one to use?... different charge amounts and different COLs. I'm thinking it would be safe to start around 76gr and 3.40 COL. I emailed Hornady to see what they recommend as well. Thanks!

yep no sweat, for the COL, you have to figure out what fits your gun/magazine, if you jam the bullet into the lands it makes a difference but it shouldn't be a problem with a starting load.
 
Hornady sent me a scan of the load data, which was pretty awesome of them. Unfortunately, it doesn't list H1000 in their book :( I guess I'll just use that powder for something else and buy the recommended. Thanks everyone for your replies!!
 
For H1000, the Lee, Modern Reloading, 2nd Edition gives 76gr start, 2883fps, MAX 81gr (compressed) and 3042fps @62696 PSI for 180 gr Jacketed Bullet. Min OAL = 3.285".

I've been going by their numbers for H4831 for the180gr Jacketed Bullets for the Hornady SSTs and it was bang on.

The SSTs seem like a great bullet BTW. From my little experience with them they are 3x more accurate and 1/2 the price of the Noslers. I can't wait to see how they work on moose and deer this fall. There are lots of great reviews on them from moose and elk hunters.

For col use what your guns chamber is. I dont use the listed coal for many loads. As for a starting point start at 74 and go from there.
