Hornady Match questions regarding reloads

Friend of mine just got into reloading and is trying to reload 6.5 and 7mm PRC match brass he shot through his rifles, he hasn’t had an issue with the 6.5 but he was having issues chambering his 7PRC reloads a few weeks ago. Today he called me to tell me he thinks the issue is that his primers aren’t seating enough. I thought originally it was case length. I told him to look at that. He says he can reload them without projectiles and they fit but with primers they won’t chamber plus he is having a difficult time with seating CCI primers.

Does Hornady match brass have a crimp?

A little more detail ....

Case fits the chamber without a primer or a projectile.

Case fits the chamber without a primer but with a projectile seated? - projectile seating problem

Case doesn't fit the chamber with primer seated but no projectile? - primer seating problem

Case doesn't fit the chamber with both primer and projectile seated? - who knows, two different variables at play.

A not correctly seated primer is totally obvious. Primer MUST be seated at least flush with the case head but normally slightly below the case head. If CCI primers are tough to seat, try a different brand.

Some Hornady Match brass does indeed have crimped primers. Hornady match ammo seems to be the most available match ammo down in the West Indies. Some lots have crimped primers, some don't. Also differs from year to year.
