Just wanted to get some opinions on moly coating. I couldn't pick up the regular V-max's so I got the moly coated version. What do you guys think of the moly coat? Does it make a difference, better or worse? Thanks,

Patrick

Moly coating has its proponents and its opponents...as you probably know. I have used it for years in my target rifles. The downside to it is the extra work to molycoat the bullets, but if you are buying them, there will only be a slight additional cost. I have found that I can shoot a long time without cleaning the barrel when using moly, but I don't see much advantage to this with a match grade barrel because it takes so little to clean most of them I have owned. It can be a considerable advantage in a barrel that is less good and you are shooting many rounds in a match. One thing you might watch for is adjustment when you switch to moly. When I shift over from non-coated bullets to using moly coated bullets my rifles take a little time to settle down, maybe 8 or 10 shots depending on the rifle. You might have to increase the amount of powder you are using to get equivalent velocity too. The Vmax bullet you are talking about has proven to be a good one in my 6BR, by the way. I think the Scenars and Berger FB's shade them a bit. But considering cost and so on they aren't a bad buy. Good luck. Fred
