I use this over 51.6 gn of Varget, mostly for inexpensive range time. Shoots under MOA@200yds when I do my part out of a Savage 116FCSS. I shot a 5' black bear @70yds in the low shoulder(no spine). 3" explosion destroying the shoulder (drag marks when bear ran 15yds) and fragments penetrating into and destroying the lungs. Did not exit. Worked well, but made a mess. Last years moose took a GMX165 for 36"; it mushroomed well and stayed together. GMXs are twice the cost, which is not a consideration for 20 hunting rounds a year. I realize this isn't news according to internet chat, but personal experience is more powerful. See below. Premium bullets are needed for flat shooting long range hunting calibers to perform well without excessive meat damage.
Note: BIL shot one at 40yds with a 35Whelan handloaded with 250gn soft points. 35cal hole in, 35 cal hole out (high lunger just behind the shoulder). No meat damage, but no big bones hit either.
