Hornady Zombie Z-MAX 12 Gauge #00 Buck

Hi guys,

This ammunition seems to be identical to Hornady's "Critical Defence" 00 buckshot ... with eight pellets travelling at 1600 fps in a very tight pattern. Plus it's apparently available in Canada at Cabelas Canada.

Any wise/learned comment about adding one or two of these puppies to my three/four Brenneke Black Magics ... replacing the one/two basic CT cheap 00 buckshot that now resides there?

I do know that they're marketed as "Home Defence" shotshells, but was wondering about their use as part of Yer Basic Sudden Close-Up Wilderness Defence mix. Five-or-six fewer pellets going faster in a smaller denser patter ... compared to a "normal" 3-inch Magnum 00 Buckshot load.

Does anybody know what the government "professionals" in Alberta (the SRD folks, the Conversation Officers, the Park Wardens) have in their shotguns? I'm curious to know if it's a mix of slugs and buckshot, and ... if that is the case ... the sequence in which it is routinely loaded for everyday carry.

And how about their counterparts in B.C. and Alaska?

I did hear this as well, but have been lucky enough to avoid them so far.

Canadian tire also sells the Z-Max shells. $14.99 a box iirc.

Zombie Max works only on zombies - they are immune to the cheaper buckshot.
