hot 45lc loads?

You'll find the offerings of factory "hot" ammo to be somewhat.....shall we say, limited. Best bet is to get into reloading.

My first and last box of factory 45 Colt was shot a long time ago. Didn't like the nearly $1/shot .

My reloads fall into 2 categories: bug-fart light, and nuclear heavy.

You may want to explain to him that factory ammo is all made to be fired in all available guns, so 45 LC is designed to be safe in original Colt's, unless I'm mistaken. The only exception I can think of is the 45-70, and it comes with a pretty clear warning not to use the hot stuff in Springfields and the like.

I've never seen any 'hot', or even 'warm' 45 colt factory ammo.

Heck, even most factory .454 casull I've seen is on the wimpy side, and would be more like handloaded .45 colt than 'real' .454.

Start handloading, or get a 44 mag.

Don't know what you're shooting, but the Hornady stuff I run through my S&W 460 has some pretty good bark and jump to her. I've loaded up some max pressure 45 Colts, and they aren't even close to what the 454's are like.
