House Rules in gun shop?

New- unopened box does not exist.
Imported gun are verified by customs..that serial number match with importing paper - yes - each of them. Then each one is checked by the store, box is opened and gun checked. There is record requirement and the only way to know it is accurate is to take info ON the gun.

For store purchase, a given model will be opened in front of customer, and sometime, two or more model will be showed, and that mean handled, cycled ..safety checked. When, chosen, the clerk will most likely enter serial number - visually taking it from the gun and produce an invoice - sometime with serial number or the shop assigned number for that gun.

It is not rare for a clerk to again take the gun to enter the serial number in the RCMP system if no done on the spot right away.

There is good chance, it will be opened again at time of pick up also, or before shipping.

In any case..a gun is handled many time. The buyer can get the serial number - just ask. But anyway, a specific gun is assigned to a customer for transfer.

Of course a dealer with many of the same model will not let you look at ten of them to choose YOUR serial number. After all, when you seen one of a specific model, they are all the same.

Today, most handgun are sold in a plastic case..there is no way to know how many time that box was opened, but one thing is sure, the box was opened many time and gun handled. Stop kidding yourself thinking otherwise.

Agreed with above. The guns number is checked at least 2-3 times. When I bought my first handgun the gun shop handed me the box with gun, said “look it over for any defects or issues and check it’s basic functions. If anything is wrong or scratched or defective I’ll grab another one for you”. Some shops are good, some don’t care
