Im looking for a bolt action 20" rifle for out to 400 yards for around $800:rolleyes: Will the savage Model 10 Precision Carbine fit the bill? Any one have any experience with this gun? and other recommendations?

What do you want to do with it?

It will be as good and as bad as any other factory rifle. If you like it, buy it and don't place too much faith in anonymous advice from people with no vested interest in your success or failure.

All factory guns shoot pretty much the same, and unless you load you own ammo, you'll likely never notice the difference from one gun to the next.

If you are serious about shooting, this won't be your last gun and after a year or two, you will be able to decide for yourself it it was a good purchase or not.

Here is a group I shot at 200y with a Remington SPS Tactical in .308 after I bedded the action and installed a Timney trigger....... Oh yea, the scope..... A Tasco Rimfire scope I took off my 10/22 till I can decide what I want/can afford.....

nice shootin, I wonder if the "accutrigger" is any good. This would save money having to replace the remington trigger.

The only reason I put on the timney is the factory x-mark Pro trigger was broken and I didn't want to wait for a replacement...... I have 2 other rifles with the x-mark trigger and I feel they are 'on-par' with the Accu-trigger. But I only own one Savage rifle....

whats the lowest trigger pull for the x-mark trigger?

I believe it is a pound and a half, same as the accutrigger (which is a misleading name) unless you get a model with the target trigger and remove the stupid blade they put in it.

Rem factory triggers can be tuned by a competent gunsmith and have far less overtravel than the Savage triggers.

I own both, I speak from experience not hearsay.

I have tried every Internet trick to try and get the Accutrigger to where I like it and it still sucks.
