What is the best group you can get out of your SKS regardless Nork / Russian /Yugo basically any SKS?

Also can the SKS be accurize?

How much work involve if there is such a thing?

I never bothered to try for groups. When I can hit paper at 100yds I figure I'm doing good.
I've heard about people drilling the trigger retaining button out and replacing it with a bolt through the stock to tighten the action in, but it sounds like a lot of trouble. You could probably improve accuracy with an aftermarket stock and some sights... a little improvement anyways.

Be careful.... if you start messing with the SKS your #### might fall off!!

I know I know................that's why I started this thread just to be sure and the last thing I want to see it happen is" my #### will fall off":D:D:D

Besides jokes does it worth tweaking or no?

I have gotten 2 1/4" groups with open sights at 100m, a very tight Chinese (Norinco) model and surplus Czech ammo from a rested position. It hasn't happened very often and is probably sh$thouse luck but I have done it more than once. 3-4" seems more realistic.

If you have an SKS go shoot the Honour Match (sticky on this forum)

Cheers

A few years ago I stuck a scope on a Chinese SKS and shot some handloads at 200 yards. 10 shot group was abotu 6". Not great, but good enough to kill a deer.

I'd like to try out a RUssian SKS for accuracy, I assume they are more accurate?

5-6" grouping at 100 meter from bench rest. Unissued Russian SKS with Czech surplus 123 FMJ. 200 rounds and no matter what, it won't do better. Maybe if I had some of those American ammo...

Part of SKS's appeal is its originality. Why temper with that anyway? It grouping is good enough to kill a deer as it is.
