How are the Browning BPS??

I recently shouldered the 870 Wingmaster and the Browning BPS. Both seemed like good quality shotguns, however I did notice a difference in fit. The 870 seemed like it had a shorter stock and felt like I had to push my shoulder foward to meet the butt, when I had it sitting comfortable. The BPS seemed to plant right into my shoulder and gave a fuller feel to it. How is a shotgun supposed to fit in this regard. I am 6'2" and 215lbs so I am a bigger guy. I think the BPS felt more fitting, what is your take on the BPS?? Thanks
 
I had both, the BPS was definitely the better quality IMO, as far as fit, I found the 870 better BUT I am 7" shorter than you.

Best awy to measure fit (as I stated in another thread today)
Pick a target, close your eyes and shoulder the gun, then open your eyes and see if you are on target.

Always go with the best fitting gun!
 
My BPS has been though everything. Rain...snow...mud...you name it. It has never jammed and never failed to fire. I purchased it due to fit (I'm 6'0) and the fact that I really liked the bottom-eject feature.
 
BPS fit

Well . . . I'm 6'-4", 245 lbs and I really like the fit of my BPS. The grip on the butt stock feels more natural to me than the 870's, and I also like the feel of the fore stock. Actually, I also have longer-than-average arm lengths and my stock is really too short (it hasn't been cut). I'm getting a Limbsaver recoil pad this week and I'm going to make myself a custom aluminum stock extension to make my length-of-pull about 14-1/2" - 15". I'm also going to make the extension so I can drop the butt pad a little to get it to fit into the shoulder better while keeping the stock and barrel at the right height.

I love my BPS i didnt like teh factory beed cause it seemed to flat. so i put on one of those fiber optic ones from browning. it just screwsinto teh old bead hole. now i couldnt be happier. I mostly shoot trap with mine so teh bottom ejection is nice so i dont hit other people with my hulls
 
i owned a BPS for years and sold it a few years back. Biggest mistake i ever made. I sold it to buy a lighter gun. Cause that was my only complaint about the bps. After real long days my arms had streched an extra inch or two. But i haven't found a gun that fit me like that bps. And i'm seriously looking for a new one. But my new one will have the shorter barrel this time round.
 
As stated by the other folks - proper fit is important otherwise chances are that you may not be able to achieve the best out of that shotgun regardless of brand name/quality.

I have recently looked at a few pumps (although I do not have any experience with one)........from a quality/finish perspective the BPS certainly wins. Also liked the Nova, provided Benelli could get rid of the rattle in the fore-end :)

Fit is everything.

As far as comparisons....they're both awsome. I wouldn't trade my WM for a BPS, but it's just personal preference. I've used both and they are comperable in many ways...
 
My BPS is going on almost it's 25th year of dedicated and reliable service. If it fits you,, then go for it.

The bottom ejection is nice in cramped quarters and your hunting buddies will thank you for it. The tang safety is sweet. The BPS has a lot to offer and is a quality product.
 
The bottom ejection IS a great feature. Especially for lefties, and guy standing besode you in the duck blind.

I find the action is a little smoother on the WM, but wouldn't base the decision on that.

Also, if the fit and feel is good, I think you can purchase a BPS for less money!

My buddy has a BPS and it a gorgeous looking shotty!
