How bad would Chinese surplus 7.62x51 be for my Ishapore 2A1?

Well, I know I'll eventually have to reload, but as a short-term shortcut to test my Ishapore 2a1, how bad would it be to buy a sardine can of Chinese surplus?

Should work okay to test and occasional range use, but be aware that the canned Chinese 7.62x51mm ammo is loaded very much on the hot side and your 2a1 is still only a rear locking SMLE rifle and regular use of a lot of this ammo is possibly going to stretch your headspace or peen your locking lug recesses over time, Lou.

BTW does your one have a 10 or 12 round mag? I used to own one years ago with a 12 round mag.

No problem, give me a call next time you are going to the range as I have a 7.62x51mm/.308 rifle I want to test fire as well and I have some of that ammo if you want to try it first before you buy a can!
