i bought 800 rounds of 7.62x39 and it didnt say if it was corrosive or non corrosive, it's sellior & belliot 1982 czech surplus, ive only shot 15 rounds of it, and i just cleaned my SKS REALLY good after because i can't tell. thanks!

If it's Czech surplus, then it's more than likely corrosive. Not a big deal if you clean it right away (gas system included)

In the past, I have pulled a bullet, dumped the powder and struck the primer to blast the bottom of an overturned steel coffee can. Left it in the basement for a week, and sure enough, you could see significant rusting where the residue was.

When in doubt, assume any Combloc surplus ammo (e.g. 7.62x39, 7.62x54R, etc.) is corrosive, though there are a few exceptions.

I was under the impression that the chinese stuff lever is selling dated after 1970 was non corrosive and he is selling it as such as well??!! any insight to this and how would one find out if in fact it was or wasn't?

I have non-corrosive, brass cased surplus.
(Saudi Arabia Ministry of Security on the crates or such).

Wasn't too expensive either thanks to CanAm.

How can you tell the difference?
Shooting corrosive you can smell the Chlorine.

I'm sure it wasn't corrosive if it was marketed that way. Some Chinese ammo after 1970 is indeed non-corrosive, but not all of it. I've fired 1975 headstamped stuff what wasn't corrosive and some 1971 stuff that was.

When in doubt, assume it is unless you like rust. Usually you can smell it if it's corrosive, but not always. I've had some very mildly corrosive Ukrainian stuff that you couldn't tell from the smell.
