I have a new manufacture VZ-58 Sportster which was purchased brand new in 2012. Is there any way, such as serial number, markings, etc, to tell if the barrel is chrome lined or not?

You sure about the muzzel silver statement ? I bought my csa vz58 new from a very reputable dealer as chrome lined and it's not silver at the muzzel .

Oops. Imagining things.

Depends. A CZ858 will not be. A CSA Vz58 can be either-or. It was an option. If the muzzle crown is silver-ish it's chromed.

Not quite true as there was a batch brought in with NR bbl length and chrome lined.
Also czh2003 NR is also chomed.

From what I remember, you'll see a half a mm silver/chrome ring at the crown

^^^ this right here will show you if it is indeed chrome lined or not

I have an FSN Restricted model and it's evident that it's chromed. You can see it at the muzzle. Whether the other VZ's did it the same way, I can't say. Chrome lined is so much better as it's very easy to clean, a couple swipes and it's squeaky clean.

If it's non restricted it's not chrome lined

Entirely wrong. A CSA NR rifle can be chrome lined. I know because mine is.

cz858lover stop asking about this. You asked a month ago and you should have learned. If you really want to know, email Czech Small Arms with your serial number and ask them. I did that, and confirmed mine is chrome lined.

Csa did not chrome line vz58 till 14/15. I remember everyone was begging for them and csa listened. If yours is a 2012 it's not chrome lined.
