As if I wasn't caught off-guard enough when the first buck suddenly charged in out of nowhere, I was even more surprized when it turned out to be a running "report pair" !

I was using a Remington 760 .308 pump-action at the time and I'm totally serious when I say that I would never have gotten the 2nd (larger) buck if not for the speed and the eye for target aquisition that has come from shooting doubles and report pairs, some of which with my Remington 870 pump.

Remember the first time you ever tried to shoot a skeet double? You were still searching for the 2nd bird before someone tapped you on the shoulder to tell you that it had already landed .

I now appreciate how shooting practice can translate across the boundaries of shooting disciplines.

I used to think that shooting clays would make me a better duck hunter! Then I cut my leads in half and started hitting ducks!

I'm sure the swing through practice will help in shooting running game as well.

I just got my first doubles last weekend. and with my 870 wingmaster pump! It was hard but had a blast!

Took a couple rounds to get into the groove of shoot, pump, shoot. lol

Nice beer bud!
