I’m doing some load development for my precision match rifle, and seems this barrel is liking them more the closer they get to the lands, anyone with real world experience on how deep you can seat into the lands before they start sticking? I’m not a fan of touching the lands but I’ve already purchased all my components and I may have to do what the bullets/barrel likes.

I’m sure it depends on a lot of factors but I’m looking to get an idea from other experiences.

I’m running RDF’s at .0015 neck tension, CBTO was measured by Wheeler/deep creek method

I like to keep the bullet off the lands as well to keep the pressure down. If your like me and shoot a lot, dont forget to measure distance to lands every 50-100 rounds as the leade increases with erosion. I try and find a distance to the rifling that is forgiving within a 0.005" range and I'll even give up a little in accuracy in order to go a couple hundred rounds before adjusting my seating die. I always keep track of my measurements using the base to ogive comparator to see how much erosion I'm getting everytime I go to the range.
