Being a long time skeet shooter, and having shot less than ten rounds of trap in my life, none since last year, I did some gun trading, and ended up with a brand new Citori XT trap gun. I took it out this morning and shot it for the first time, the result being a 25. Of course that led to some teasing from the skeet shooters as to how easy trap must be if a beginner can shoot a clean round. I do intend to keep shooting both games, but in all honesty, I doubt that I will ever enjoy trap more than skeet.

I guess you're a prodigy. It's been a while since I broke 25 straight. But now that you've mastered the game after one round, why don't you take your talent down the the Grand American? You could win big money! Or how about helping out our Canadian Olympic trap team. Canada hasn't won a medal in mens trapshooting in a while.

As a 37 year skeet shooter that has shot 396 in the 4 gun event ( when my eyes were good and 20 years younger ) and only 50 straight in trap in my life time this post is going to be good. It is more difficult for me since it is shot here only once a month for a couple of rounds so hard to practise.:bangHead:

It looks as though some people are missing the sarcasm that was intended. As most people know, there has always been a division between the trap shooters, and the skeet shooters. Each group insists that their sport is more challenging, and takes more skill to master. At our club, it isn't a serious division, but rather more of an opportunity for teasing each other and joking around. My trap shooting friends have been teasing myself and other skeet shooters to come and shoot a real sport with them, so shooting a clean round of trap this morning, gave myself and the skeet shooters a perfect opportunity to tease the trap shooters a bit. This thread was intended to create a little humor, and perhaps initiate some more teasing between the two disciplines, but it looks as though some people are taking it a little too seriously.:D

25 great.
I'd take a 24 smoked and 1 clean miss any day.:)
Or 25 turned black is best.
Most trap shooters have the ability to applaud their efforts and laugh at their shortcomings.
At least those are the guys I shoot with.
Naw we're not that serious.;)

Touché  Well done.

I'm I out to lunch or does sporting clays trump both? I keep thinking that trap + doubles + skeet = sporting clays (almost)! I can't think of an equivalent for the rabbit in either skeet or trap...or teal...or... See how the sporting clays guys never comment on the trap shooter's bathing habits or the skeet shooter's neuroses... They are such a humble lot, though I suspect a lot of them might be private drinkers. It's because they are used to being humiliated by impossible targets and probably wish they were more like the guys that can be satisfied shooting predictable targets such as those that exist in d's or t or s... Have you ever seen the bounce on a rabbit? Even the great George D a man legendary for his courage, in an unguarded moment caught on tape, has been heard to comment that it is an unfair target! Yup...this seems like truth...

:D:D:D Ha! This is great!!! I'm about to send your first post to a trap shooter at out Trap/Skeet/SC club.

The grandaddy of skeet at our club is absolutely useless at trap. Don't tell him I said that!;):D

That is actually very common, that being said it won't take him long to grasp it if he really wanted to. In the end shooting is shooting with a shot gun. I make my best shots hunting since there is no time to think.:D

It's nice to smoke 24, 49 or 99, but in competition I'll take the perfect score every time. Even when I shoot with my buddy for coffe or coke he will not buy my argument that I hit em harder.

I think that in trap or skeet it is not unusual for fairly new shooters to shoot 25s. I also think it is not unusual for fairly good shooters to fall in the toilet and score lower than 20 or down into the numbers they do not wish to speak about. In competition better shooters will be closer to perfection and consistently have higher scores. Practice rounds are just that, Practice. I can not decide which is more difficult, because both require attention to detail to stay consistently high. I am not much into the thing between trap and skeet. Recently I am into the competition between the generations. At 63 I am not really great at anything but I think it is really cool when some talented young guy braggs about beating me and at some small shoots I seem to have a target on me. Trap or skeet or sporting I feel good that I can still shoot and some still think I am worth beating.

NZCB,

You're not one of the guys that can make that claim, but if you were I would feel honored.;) Just in case, I checked the last stats. I am not worried! Yet!:p
