How do coopers 280ai shoot

I think most "coppers" use the Weaver stance.

If you mean a Cooper .280 AI, I'm sorry but I know nothing about them.

Sorry can't speak for a 280AI, but if its a Cooper It will likely shoot very small groups at 100yrds, easily. I have a 25-06AI that I am in the process of developing loads for and have a fireforming load that puts 3 in the same hole at 100yrds with Nosler BT's. I've been loading up some Berger VLT's but have not yet had a lot of time to get out and shoot.

You can't go wrong with a Cooper and I think you would have to go straight to a full custom to really get a better rifle. Prophet River Firearms went above and beyond to get me the right Cooper, and I would highly recommend you give Clay a call. ;)

I've got one, but haven't had a chance to try it yet. Got a bunch of test loads ready for it, just waiting for some decent weather and an opportunity to test it out. I'm sure it will shoot great, it sure looks nice too!

You see see the test targets they come with. I just opened a JHR in this calibre and the test target group is about .284" :)

I'm probably wrong but I heard somewhere that Cooper test targets are shot at less than 50m?

38m seems to ring a bell?

47 yards indoors off bags. They(CF) are guaranteed to shoot .5" at 100. We've sold 276 in the last 6 months. None have had accuracy or other warranty issues.

This one just came in. Not a great pic of the target but its about .284".

Just tested some loads in my cooper .280ai. 140gr ballistic tips, over 60gr imr 4831 was the winning load so far. 3 shots all touching at 100yds. I tried berger's, tsx's, and interbonds, all at 139-140gr and the bt's shot the best with the berger's in seond place. I tried all bullets at 58gr charge but the 60 grain was the best. Funny, that load is listed as most accurate load in my Nosler #6 book. I might try some 4350 and rl 19 later on.

I'm going to get some AB's, I used the BT's because I had them on hand. I would rather hunt with the AB's. The ballistic tips looked good on paper though.

Sounds like you are ready for those Mulies out there....... and the Sheep in the rocks.

I'll put in a plug for Clay here too, he's a great help!

Yup, gonna try the Cooper on a mule this fall :dancingbanana: unless I get one with my bow, not likley though, I can't be quiet long enough. :)

This Cooper didn't come from Clay, it came from Joe Brook in Branden. I ordered it before I knew Clay was selling them, about a year ago now. They were good to deal with. I did get a couple leupolds and a Cooper .22 from Clay, what a gorgeous peice that is! Yes great customer service from Clay, I hope we can support our small town dealers as much as we can.
