Sorry if Im asking a completely retarded question, but how do the draws work?

This is my first year hunting, and I have 0 relatives/friends that hunt... so I have no one to ask, aside from the forum.

Ive missed every draw in Ontario aside from controlled deer which I have until the end of August to put in for.

Being this is my first year, I was only planning on hunting deer, but for future reference... what is the draw?

Heres what I thought it was/is... There are only so many of said animal out there, and in specific WMUs. So there is only a certain amount of tags that can be given out. I figured the draw was to determine who gets a tag, and who doesnt.
But when I went and purchased my Outdoors card/hunting licence. The lady asked if I wanted any tags. I said I was planning on deer hunting, so I bought a tag. Am I good to hunt a deer in any WMU that I want with this tag? What is the controlled draw then? Is this an additional tag that I can hunt in specified WMU if I would be so lucky as to get drawn?

Thanks,
Cody

Think your best bet would be to ask on the hunting forums for someone to take you out and show you how it's done. There is more to hunting than going out into the bush with a rifle. Going out by yourself could get you hurt. Or worse come home with no meat :(.

You may want to thoroughly go over your hunting regulations. All the answers are in there.

Purchasing a Deer Tag in Ontario allows you to take a Horned Deer from any WMU that allows Deer Hunting. Draws allow you to get a Antlerless deer in a SPECIFIC WMU. Controled hunt give you a tag in a random WMU.
