Hi All,

I just got my cz858 from Wolverine and I'm trying to install the black furniture kit that came with it, but having some problems.

1) The pistol grip: I got it off no problem with the bolt on the underside. But now putting the grip back on it does not want to "catch" so the pistol grip will not go on. It is not clear where the bolt even attaches to

2) The upper rail: I got the old one off by releasing a pin near the sight and then rotating the wood off, and rotating the black rail back on. My question is this: Do I have to drill holes for the screws?

3) The lower rail: I can't figure out how it comes off.

There are instructions but they aren't english...

Also, for the pistol grip, the bolt threads into a threaded square nut. You have to take the top cover off of the rifle, as the threaded square nut thing is not held by anything but the bolt.

Lower handguard

The lower handguard is held in place with a pin that needs to be punched out.

Once the pin is out, it will come off easily.

Thnkas I found the pin (just aft of the handguard and pushed it through with an awl and a light hammer. Wolverine provides a replacement pin which is a bit larger than the original. So the lower handguard and upper rail are now in place.

Although, I still was not sure about drilling into the upper rail to accomidate the two screw for the rail. Has anyone done this yet?

I'm still unsure about getting the top cover off. I pushed the pin through just before the wood stock and it does allow me to partially lift the upper cover. But I can see a spring undernieth and it looks like the upper cover extends all the way forward to the slide for the action. I'm woried about forcing it and either breaking somethingor having a million pieces fly out of it that I'll have no idea where they go. Is there anying other than that pin that holds the top cover on? Any trick to this?

Springs

pull the pin, push the back side of the cover with your thumb and lift. It will come right out.
THere are some pretty substantial springs attached to it. Does it just slide backwards once the back end is high enough?

Thanks to everyone for the help thus far...

Yes, the cover comes up a bit then slides out, make sure the rifle is not cocked, decock then push up cover with thumb and it will come up and out.

Cheers

Top cover off

OK I've go the top cover off, and in case anyone is reading this later the spings just came right with it.

Now I found the little bolt thing that the pistol grip screws into. It was just kind of clanging around inside.

However, I'm not sure which way the bolt is supposed to sit. Obviously it needs to follow the rake of the pistol grip, can I assume that the big side is down and the more narrow side is up? Or is the narrow bit supposed to protrude through the hole?

Again my thanks to everyone that has helped, I"m almost done...

Dr.Chris

the narrow bit comes through the hole. Be sure to have it facing the right way (towards the front or back of rifle, I can't remember at the moment) so that it will be at the proper angle to accomodate the bolt when it is in the pistol grip. lol, clear like mud?
