Well, the front end of a casing is stuck inside this problematic fireatm. I was shooting a while ago, and the casing got sliced in half and the front end got stuck inside, and I don't know how to get it out. Help?

If you can get at it from the breach send a very tight fitting bronze brush into case with good cleaning rod.....then try to pull brush back out.....the bristles will grab case and with enough pull, the whole works should come out!!

A broken case extractor is the proper tool. The piece of case might not be in there all that tight. Try running a rod through from the muzzle with a tight fitting bronze brush. Might catch the piece. Or a larger brush pushed in from the breech might grab the piece. There are other tricks, but you have to be careful not to damage the chamber. A plug can be epoxy glued into the case, and then it can be knocked out with a rod from the muzzle. A tap can be gently turned into the case, and then a rod from the muzzle - but if you touch the chamber, its pooched.

x3 on the broken case extractor, it has the least chance of damaging the chamber during the removal.

The reason for the case failure was almost certainly a dirty chamber. Keep in mind that the chambers on all SKS's are NOT chromed, only the bore is chromed, so the chamber is subject to the same rusting & corrosion problems as the rest of the gun & gas system, especially when shooting corrosive milsurp ammo. The fact that milsurp steel cases are lacquered only exacerbates the problem, the combination of dirty chamber walls, heated lacquer on the outer wall of the case and combustion pressure pushing the case wall out against the chamber wall creates a LOT of friction.

Anyhoo, good luck with that, get yourself a broken case extractor and you'll be fine :D

Thanks! How much is a broken case extractor, and how much is it? I don't much care if the chamber gets minor damage, not like this thing could hit the side of a barn anyways (unless I threw it).
