You can not delete the thread - you might be able to edit it to remove the words that you posted, but the thread continues to exist - if anyone quoted you, then your words continue in their "quote".
I think a "mod" can delete a thread, but us "normal" folk can not.

Past experience is a Mod will lock a thread and in not so rare instances they will delete a thread , but there are generally some extenuating circumstances for them to do that.
Otherwise, just edit your thread and hope nobody has quoted you.
