how do i get a replica no 32 scope that numrich sells ....yes legally

I assume you have found that they can't/won't sell you one because of U.S. export regulations? But if you can get them to tell you where they get them from (I'm sure they aren't made in the U.S.A.) perhaps you can import one from the same source.

Do optics fall under the $100 exception?
If so ship it to a ups store in the usa, go down scratch it so its only worth that, then ship it again! Haha

I saw something about such replicas on another forum. Sorry I can't remember which, but I'm pretty sure it was said they were being made in eastern Europe, in which case you don't need a way to get one out of the U.S., you need a way to keep one (or two, or several) out of the U.S.

I would guess that the Wizard of No.32 Scopes, Pete Laidler, may know something about their origin, and what he knows, Brian #### of Brian #### Longarms Ltd probably knows or can find out from him.

Well... I just ordered 2 of these things and the order "went through" and I thought all was good. Go down to Ogdensburg and bring them back across at Prescott all nice and legal... pay whatever duty and taxes and GST and crap.

Anyways... few hours later I get an e-mail saying the order is cancelled... seems your VISA address HAS to match your Shipping Address. ????????

Anyways.... I never had this happen before... I'm always bringing ammo over and NO problems at all!

Unless you have an export permit from the US, you're breaking the law. And admitting it on a public forum. Both for the scope and the ammo.

It doesn't matter if Canada doesn't care (legal on this side) - you're breaking US law by exporting the scope and possessing the ammo. Sad, but true.

Well... I thought I WAS legal !!!!

Canada Customs has never given me ANY type of hassle, ever!!!

So what is this about the US Customs? I can't go down and buy stuff and bring it back?

Since when did all THIS go down?

Anyways... so be it. But crazy as sh1t because I can bring in a few hundred thousand dollars worth of laboratory fumehoods, but not a couple of stinking scopes?? And frigging REPO'S no less!!

Someone down there has his head firmly up his arse. Since when did Canada and the US suddenly become enemies? Was it before or after we sent troops to Afghanistan and stepped up to the plate when Bush asked for help in the War on Terror?

Frigging bureaucracy. And to think so many of us fought for these same pukes who are making our lives miserable with this kind of BS.

And no, I'm not deleting anything because I have done nothing wrong. Good God.

actually quite pissed now

I lived in Maine for years... have cousins who are born US citizens.

And I can't buy a frigging scope????? I'm a criminal for bringing back a brick of 22's from WalMart???

When I get back from the hunt I'm writing the Minister of Justice. Ask him WTF is this all about. US dept of justice, too.

It's been like this for a looong time. No one is saying its right, or even makes sense. However, in a court of law, ignorance of the law is not a valid defense. You're right about Canada Customs not caring, but the US guys would view it differently. My advice is not to do it again... If you DO get checked going outbound from the US (they set up roadblocks before the border), you're in for a WORLD of hurt.

Sorry for the hijack shortandlong!!!

I got onto a Lyman's scope kick and bought a few from the states...then about the same time as Obama came to office it all had to stop .
These wern't sniper scopes either , but just some good ol sporting scopes.

These laws were in place looooong before Obama... this isn't anything 'recent' by any stretch of the imagination...

The really sad fact of the matter is that Canada could easily be exemted from those laws just by our government making the request.

When the US started to implement those laws, Canada requested we be put on the list. Just another thing to thank the Liberal?BLOC coalition for.

As for the CPC, I think that is a s--t storm they don't even want to think about at this point. They have more than enough to deal with at the moment.

You can buy a scope, if the seller doesn't take the precaution of refusing to sell to you for fear they will be liable if you take/send it out of the U.S. Export from the U.S. is controlled by U.S. laws and regulations. You will break U.S. law if you take it or send it out of the U.S. without the proper export permits. The seller will break U.S. law if they send it to you outside the U.S. without proper export permits which is why many won't sell to Canadians - not worth the time and trouble for them to learn the permit applications for the amount of profit they think they might make.

The best solution for the OP is to find one for sale that is NOT in the US.

The replica scopes can be found in the UK and other spots in europe.

I would suggest visiting the Lee Enfield forum at milsurps dot com and have a look at some of the expertise there. Feedback that I recall from the threads I read were that the glass was good, but there was concern about the adjustments.

Hope this helps!

Getting back to the original topic... I copied this straight from Numrich

Government Restrictions
•The United States Government has restrictions in place with regards to countries to which we are unable to export. Please click here to see the complete list of restricted countries.
•The United States Government has export restrictions in place for items such as barrels, barrel blanks, bolt assemblies, cylinders, receivers, frames, bolts, high capacity magazines, shotgun magazines, shotgun magazine extension tubes, shotgun complete trigger mechanisms, etc. There are also many weapons we are not permitted to export parts for. Please click here for a complete list of restricted weapons.

Company Policy
•Any order paid for with a foreign credit card MUST go to the foreign country.
•Any order paid for with a USA based credit card can be shipped to any allowed foreign country. Please click here to see the complete list of restricted countries.
•Foreign orders with purchased parts value exceeding $100 ($200 for Canada) are not accepted.
•Foreign orders containing restricted parts, requiring an export license from the U.S. Department of State are not accepted, since we no longer do any licensing for the State Department .
•Foreign orders containing unrestricted parts, requiring an import license from the country of destination are accepted. Please fax us your proof of import permit and we'll pack it with your order.

So long as it is legal to import/export, we can buy from them up to $200. And yes I have done this, I have bought $170 worth of enfield and M1917 bits. I was unsure at the time b/c I was getting pieces for a bolt (extractors I believe) so I contacted them to see if it would be ok and they said yes.

However since the scope you want is $600, you are still up sh*t creek without a paddle.
